I followed technical analysis to analyze on Singapore stocks. I was bullish on STX PO earlier but market turned unfavorable towards me. I had a painful experience to cut loss fast when realizing I made a mistake. Then, I stayed aside while the market was volatile.
I continued to have faith in my technical analysis using moving average (MA). I scanned the Singapore market day by day and I spotted 2 golden opportunity in Singapore Market on 28 May. They are NOL & Noble Group. Both of them looked to rebound from the 20d MA and offered good risk/reward ratio.
I spotted the counters on 28 May. However, I was ready to fly to Bangkok for a 4 days vacation early the next morning, I did not want to waste the opportunity and I decided to enter a stop buy on Noble Group. At the same time, I was also scared if the market turned unfavorable towards me again, I also entered a stop loss in case if my stop buy was executed.
After placing all my orders, I traveled to Bangkok in the morning of 29 May. I did bring my laptop along with me and I was planning to monitor the stock market while I was in Bangkok. Unfortunately, things did not go as my plan, I was having difficulty in finding a Free Wi-Fi hotspot, the Wi-Fi offered in my hotel was terribly expensive to me. Therefore, I did not check the market for 2 days.
Was I worried? Hmmm, honestly, a bit definitely. I have some anxiety to want to know how the market is performing. However, the high cost of Wi-Fi put me off. But nevermind, I knew that I had a stop loss in place if the market really want to punish me again. The risk is managable in this case.
I came back today from my holiday, I updated my stock data and I checked out the stock of NOL & Noble Group. I am happy to see white candle for the last 2 days. Great, it showed a good rebound from the 20d MA.
At least now my technical analysis on moving average is right. Will I make profit on this trade? Hmmm… it is still early to tell, what I am going to do now is to shift my stop loss upwards to my breakeven price. If the market really turn opposite to my analysis again, at least, my capital is still protected. I am a conservative trader
So, stop is essential to cut loss if we made a mistake and it is also essential to protect our capital to breakeven our open position.
Lastly, my key learning on this Singapore stocks: DO NOT Enter Stock Market Without Stop Loss
