Singapore Straits Time Index Stock Market Trends

Singapore’s Straits Time Index (STI) key resistance is near the 1,918 and there seems to have 2 support levels that I am looking at. First level support is 1,714 and second level support is near 1,476. 2002 low level is 1,206 level.

So, it looks to me at first instant that STI is also trading in a sideway market between 1,714 and 1.918 because STI is re-testing the 1,714 level the 2nd times. As long as this 1,714 level is not broken, there is also a potential that this is a higher low to start the up trend.

Meanwhile, I shall observe the movement of STI in the coming week to better knowing the trend of STI.

Hong Kong Hang Seng Index Stock Market Trends

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (HSI) key resistance is near the 15,980 and support level is 10,957. 2002 low level is 8,356 level.

At first glance on the Hong Kong Hang Seng index, it is still trading at a very wide interval of support and resistance. If HSI is indeed also in a sideway market likes other major markets, So, I tends to believe that the volatile market in Hong Kong is going to continue.

So, please be careful if you are trading in the Hong Kong markets.

However, after looking at the stock market trends of US market chart today, I believe that the market has entered into a sideway market because the market has rebounded strongly at the recent support. Sideway market means the market will rebound from support and retrace from resistance. It is a great opportunity for stock market trading.

Dow Jones Stock Market Trends

Dow Jones is trading between a support level at 8,194 and resistance level at 9,654. It is trading in this 1,500 points interval.

The lowest point at 2002 is at 7,100. This is about 1,000 apart from the recent low.

As the recent low is very near to the 2002 low, it is likely to believe that the market may be hovering at this level in a sideway market. If there isn’t any more bad news, that market will hold strong at this level. If there is some continuation of the bad news of melt down, the market can go down to test the 7,100 level.

S&P 500 Stock Market Trends

S&P500 is trading between a support level at 845 and resistance level at 1006.

Lowest level of S&P500 ins 2002 is about 768 level. You can see that this pattern is very similar to the Dow Jones that we mentioned above. I ever heard someone telling me that 60% to 80% of the time that the market is trading in sideway market. Long at support and short near resistance is one the best trading system many traders are practicing.

Nasdaq Stock Market Trends

Nasdaq is trading between a support level at 1,504 and resistance level at 1,778.

Lowest level of Nasdaq in 2002 is 1,110 level. Among the 3 stock market indices, Nasdaq is the only one that is still trading still very far from the 2002 low. Does that mean that there is still quite a big opportunity that the Nasdaq will drop to the 2002 low, well, I am not sure. If the Nasdaq really break the 1,504 support, there is a possibility that Nasdaq can dive down further.

It prompted me to post the Dow Jones Weekly Stock Market Trends today because I spotted that the Dow Jones index is now trading on the key support, breaking such support will see the stock market contine to dive to possibly 2002 low. If it holds, then, we may see a technical rebound again continue with a side way market.

Let’s take a look at the Dow Jones Stock Market Chart now.

Dow Jones Industrial Average Stock Market Trends

Dow Jones has dive from a recent high and it has retraced down to a key support level. What is the key support on Dow Jones. That’s at 8,143 level. This is near the low level that was formed in Oct and this low level has been tested twice. This will be the 3rd time the Dow Jones is testing the same low again.

I am only seeing the price approaching the support level, however, most indicators are laggard and therefore I have not seen any reversal signal on the indicator yet. There are bad news circulating now, high unemployment rate, Walmart and Intel is issuing profit guidance. Overall, there are still lot of bad news going on.

As today is the first retest of this support level, I think the market will hover around this support for a day or two, we shall be able to see a clearer picture tomorrow. If there isn’t any good news to cheer the market, I beleve the market will dive down to the 2002 low which I have been warning by using the Fibonacci theory.

Dow Jones Weekly Stock Market Trends

I am still holding on to another 2 short positon now, they are Lorillard & Airtran Holdings. I just checked my portfolio, I have a profit between 7% - 11% and I am still riding on the down trend.

Ok, let’s focus back to today stock market picks. I found another interest stock counter to look at again using the trading system I back tested earlier. I am now doing some forward testing by bring the system to test in the real stock market.

Stock Picks on 12 Nov -  Safeway Inc

I screen the NYSE stock market today and I found Safeway Inc (SWY) is trading near its 50d MA now and it is reversing it rebound to dive downward. I see that it offers a pretty good opportunity to short at the moment.

MacD, RSI and Stochastics all showing possibility of down turn as well. So, I initiated a short position on Safeway Inc with a stop loss at 23. I am also currently holding 3 short position in total which is the maximum portfolio risk that I am willing to take.

I shall be looking at closing the short position if it can meet my profit target in the next few days or so. Money into my pocket is the real win, otherwise, paper win is immaterial to me…

Market is still volatile, trade with care and happy making some money…

Riding On The Down Trend

The market did try to ride higher yesterday after the stimulus plan announced by China government. However, that did not manage to cheer the market well and US closed in red despite such a good news. Plus, the US market has turned bearish again after another turbulence of the AIG bailout by US government.

AAI (Airtran Holdings) looks to keep continue its down trending now as I am seeing a series of dark candle. It did not dive sharply but gradually going down. That’s ok and we can still ride on its down trending pattern. One alert that I spotted is that 20d MA is rising up fast and that moving average could become the support.

LO (Lorillard) has created a recent higher low but the laggard indicator is still not turning yet, plus the recent market condition can still bring it down further to test my profit target.
